le Grande Voyage - Your Second to last chance to catch SFCC's 2010 International Film Festival


The fourth of the five films being brought to Spokane by the Spokane Falls Community College International FIlm Festival, le Grande Voyage, is the story of a high school age muslim and his father from france traveling for their pilgrimage to Mecca, and how the time spent in this journey allows them to work through their personal, and generational differences.  The films french writer/director Ismael Ferroukhi has said his film is:
"A tribute to the 97% of Muslims we never hear about in the Western world".

The film will be shown at The Garland Theatre at 924 West Garland Ave. this Tuesday, May 11th at 7:25 PM.  Tickets are free to SFCC students with ID, $3.50 to the general public.

Spokane Jewish Film Festival

SPIFF is happy to share this information about the upcoming 2009 Jewish Film Festival (Presented by Spokane Area Jewish Family Services).

Quickly A Spokane Short Film Event


On Tueday April 28th, 2009, The EWU Theater and Film Department will be presenting the first ever "Quicky A Spokane Short Film Event" which will be comprised of a short film format comprised of the following categories:
- Narrative Short Film
- Documentary Short Film
- Animated Short Film
- Music Video

The event takes place at The Magic Lantern Theatre located in Spokane, WA and will begin promptly at 7 O'Clock (the FAVES Inaugural meeting will begin at 5:30 and then we will merge into this event).

Submissions are due by noon on the 17th of April, 2009.

There will be a $5.00 cover for the event.

EWU Senior Class Short Film Showing

This Thursday April 9th, had on out to Eastern Washington's Electronic Media and Film Department's Building to catch this years crop of Senior productions from this last winter quarter. 8 films will be shown at this in Room 123 starting at 2:30 PM. Check the FAVES Calendar link at the right to add it to your calendar and find directions with Google maps to the show (address also listed below, bring quarters for parking on the street, parking lots are mostly permit only).
