You, The Living (Du Levande) A Part of the SpIFF Professor's Series

This Wednesday May 12th at 7 PM the Spokane International Film Festival is bringing us another intriguing film as a part of their Professor's Series, this time around we are being treated to Roy Andersson's You, The Living (Du Levande) at The Magic Lantern.

Johan Carlsson, the films production manager speaks  about the interesting process of making this film:
"This movie will take 3 years of intensive full time work to shoot. It's not the shootings themselves that take time, but the work on creating the environments. We build almost all sets...
in studio, even those which take place outdoors. Most of the time we start from the sketches by Roy, sometimes we build simple test sets to be able to decide what the environments should look like. We put much effort into all parts of the picture and a lot of tests to reach the right result.

Watch the trailer for a glimpse into this exotic piece from Swedish director Roy Andersson's 2007 Best Foreign Film Academy Award entry.  See the film at 7PM on Wednesday May 12th at The Magic Lantern (25 W Main Ave, Spokane, WA. Tickets are $5.00 at the door, $4.00 for SpIFFY members.
