September Announcements

Hey FAVES followers, there is a lot to announce for September. Some of what is going on will be announced here today and more will come in the following weeks.

To start with, September's spotlight will be on writers, and while we are still getting solid confirmations for the September 29th meeting from our panelists, so far it looks like we will have local writers Mark Steilen and Jess Walter. Any additions or changes to the line up will be announced here so keep your eyes peeled.

We are eagerly anticipating the September event for another reason. We will be announcing a call for local short films made in/around the spokane area for a showing in a couple of months. Be sure to be at the September 29th meeting for more details as this will be the kickoff event!

For the September meeting and meetings to follow, we will be needing some help from our members to not only get the word out, (a poster for the September meeting will be available shortly), we will also need some help recording the event. Feel free to contact us at admin@favesblog.com if you are interested/available to help out.

This weekend will be the final weekend to catch the MAC's exhibition "Out of this World: Extraordinary Costumes from Film and Television" that runs until this Saturday the 5th.

Also coming up at the MAC will be "The Rambling Irishman Irish Film, Literature, Song, and Dance" featuring the film The Hard Road to The Klondike by Desmond Bell. The film will be shown on Friday, September 18, 6:45-8:15 p.m. with a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m.. Admission to the event is free to MAC members, all others $7.00 admission (those paying at the door also receive one complimentary beverage at the reception)

Speaking of shows to catch, be sure to check out The Magic Lantern's web site for updates on shows and playtimes. Tickets are a mere $5, a far cry from the cost of most showings at other theaters so you have no reason not to go down and catch a show or two!
